St. Johns County, Fl. — St. Johns County is the second-fastest growing county in Florida, and 15th fastest growing in the United States, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
This comes after census figures show the Orlando retirement community The Villages is the fastest growing metro area in the United States for the second-straight year.
According to figures provided by the bureau, St. Johns grew by an estimated 3.9 percent from July 2014 to July 2015, or by approximately 8,597 people. As of July 2015, St. Johns had a total population of 226,640 people.
Growth in St. Johns may be best shown by the growth of the school district, which had a half-cent sales tax to build new schools approved by voters last November. Beginning in Jan., the school district began receiving $13 million per year to build schools.
